Statutory Assessments: Information for Parents and Carers
Throughout their time at primary school, children take part in a number of statutory assessments that help teachers understand their progress and identify any areas where additional support may be needed. These assessments are a normal part of school life and provide valuable information about how well children are achieving against national expectations.
The Department for Education (DfE) has produced a series of parent information leaflets to explain each assessment in more detail. The leaflets outline:
- What parents and carers need to know
- What each assessment involves
- When assessments take place
- How results are used and shared
The leaflets below cover all statutory assessments undertaken in primary school, including the Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA), Phonics Screening Check, Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), Key Stage 2 SATs, and assessments for pupils working below the standard of national curriculum tests.
We hope you find these guides helpful. If you have any questions about any of the assessments, please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher or contact the school office.
